Dance New Amsterdam offers a variety of workstudy programs designed to
provide professional and non-professional dancers the opportunity to take
classes at a discounted rate. The program is open to all students, regardless
of level of dance training. Depending on the workstudy position, you will
be compensated with free, limited, or unlimited discounted classes ($4.00
each class). Workstudy discounts are also applicable to studio rentals,
workshops, and concert performances produced by Dance New Amsterdam.

Students must commit to the program for a minimum of six months for
production and three months for on call and special events. After
submitting an application, each student will be interviewed by the
workstudy manager and those in charge of the program they chose.
Applicants must follow the guidelines of the position they choose
and be responsible, prompt, have a positive attitude, and focus on
each task at hand.

Dance New Amsterdam's workstudy program offers a great opportunity
to meet other students and receive dance training affordably.

Theater House Manager
Three to four House Managers will alternate performances through the season
Six-month commitment
All candidates must be interviewed by DNA Producers, Alberto Denis or Marisa Beatty
Mandatory attendance to theater orientation meeting
Always arrive 1 1/2 hours before the show begins, and stay until performance ends

Expectations
Great people skills; must be hospitable and able to make the audience feel welcome
Ability to communicate to and coordinate a crew of ushers, including an orientation and house tour and directions for audience seating
Make sure there are enough programs each night
Must communicate with booth and box office
Set up reserved seating

Compensation
Two free classes for each night worked

Theater Usher
Good people skills, be friendly and courteous to audience members
Knowlege of house, in order to seat audience correctly
Assist those in need of special help
Fold programs
Knowledge of the show, in order to answer questions
Post-performance house cleanup and wrap up
Special tasks, as neeed
Must arrive one hour before show begins

Compensation
free admission to the performance

Schedule
Varies depending on needs of Dance New Amsterdam
Requirement
two to five hours per event
Compensation
two hours = two classes at $4.00, four hours or more = unlimited classes at $4.00 for one week.

Each applicant is required to interview with the workstudy manager
and have a follow up interview with the program in which they
are interested.

Following the interviews, each accepted workstudy student will be
offered a position or be placed on the waiting list if no position
is available.

How to Reapply
After completing the commitment of three or six months,
students interested in staying on staff must schedule an
interview with the workstudy manager.

Workstudy students may leave and return to the program on a
continuous basis. Students not completing their three to six-month
commitment will not be allowed to reapply in the workstudy program.
Students wishing to discontinue the program must give two weeks
written notice.
