Class Description
This class is intended to introduce students to Mr. Ross and his own style of dance which has roots from the Paul Taylor & Jennifer Muller style. This class works on strengthening technique from the core. Repertory from Nicholas Andre Dance will be taught in the class, along with new contemporary movement. Nick’s dedication to training dancers has been recognized by schools across the country. Nick believes that a strong foundation is needed in order to excel at executing choreography. He asks dancers to try movement that they might not be comfortable with, to help them explore their creative side. The class will be action-packed with lots of movement.
Throughout the class the students will warm up their bodies in order to be able to learn movements from the repertory as well as work on basic technique, needed for the physical style in which the company demonstrates in the repertory. The student will also be taught the use of mental preparation as a tool for dancers, using visualization as a helpful technique. Along with the movement in the class Nick shares his professional experiences and training experiences with the students. Students are able to relate to Nick since he is an active member of the dance community and not from generations before.
