Maija Garcia

A movement artist of Cuban descent residing in Harlem, Maija Garcia is making waves as director of OrganicMagnetics, associate choreographer of FELA! A New Musical, and performing artist with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company since 2004. Garcia’s theater and choreographic works have been commissioned by The Tank and Dance New Amsterdam, and featured in La Habana Cuba, Los Angeles and San Francisco CA, Ann Arbor MI, and New York City. A graduate of California Institute of Integral Studies, Garcia teaches classes and workshops in contemporary movement; inspired by Afro-Latin rhythms, and infused with yoga, martial arts and theater dynamics.
