Class Descriptions
Classes start with an efficient Modern and Pilates/Yoga-based warm up
Slow Intermediate Contemporary Modern (Focus & Intent)
Through short exercises one is introduced to the movement/technique principles basic to Mr. Steele’s intense and expressive choreography.
Intermediate Contemporary Modern (Technique & Strength)
The exercises concentrate on natural physical placement as well as technical alignment and finding the strength to support such within movement. This allows for a deep exploration of the proper use of gravity by finding “center” initially and secondly by investigating “bilateral- and circular-off-center” (largest range of motion) as well as “moving-through-center” (clear/dynamic transitions). The final goal is to achieve clear minded high quality movement/technique while encouraging confidence in one’s ability/knowledge and learn how to implement such into choreography.
Advanced Contemporary Modern (Movement & Endurance)
Considering natural physical placement one is encouraged to push the limits of technical alignment yet never compromise the safety of the body. Phrases are long and range from athletic to fluid/musical while their design will always surprise with directional changes. As the body is getting exhausted the final goal is to maintain clear minded high quality movement/technique through self implementing one’s ability/knowledge into choreography with confidence (self-teaching).
