Modern Guest Artist Series Mini Workshops
As a part of our ongoing commitment to professional dancers, Dance New Amsterdam is incorporating periodic specialty workshops into our Modern Guest Artist series. These mini-workshops are taught by our rotating roster of guest teachers from around the world. Our guest artists represent the broad spectrum of styles in modern dance today, from contemporary and post-modern dance to contact improvisation and release work. These mini-workshops allow our diverse guests to share specialized knowledge with our students. The workshops run the gamut from Partnering and Improvisation to Dance Theater Composition. Unlike our regular classes, preregistration will be available for all Modern Guest Artist Mini-Workshops.
Upcoming Workshops:

Ori Flomin: Breaking Forms
Monday-Friday, Jun 22-26, 2-4pm
The aim of this workshop is to arrive at a new place of improvisational possibilities from an original shared vocabulary of movement and phrasing.
At start participants will learn a dance phrase that will become a physical departure or investigative resource for later improvisational work. The phrase will be slightly quirky, demanding, dynamic and articulate. participants will learn how to work with the use of momentum, gravity and softness in the joints,in order to find clarity in their movement in space.
