Teaching @ DNA
If you are interested in teaching at Dance New Amsterdam, please send a resume and bio, teaching philosophy, and class description for each proposed technique and level.
Here are some insights as to what we are looking for when we ask for a teaching philosophy:
- We would like you to convey how you approach your technique relating to each student’s individual abilities/body types.
- Let us know more about the structure of the class, and please mention whether you feel your class works best for the morning, afternoon, or evening.
- Please acknowledge some of your influences
- Please specify the level of your class
- Video footage of you teaching class in a “demo reel” style: fun to watch, to the point and few “effects”. We recommend inserting samples of your performance work if available. See Jennifer Archibald Class Demo Reel in DNA’a You Tube Channel. We are using You Tube and other video sharing sites that recommend the following specs for the video: They accept a wide range of video file formats such as .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG transferred from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones. Full size and mpg4 is recommended. Please send this video to DNA with your application in a data DVD or give the url for download.
All inquires, including Workshops and the Modern Guest Artist Series (adv modern technique), should be directed to Jamie Dowd, School Assistant at jdowd@dnadance.org
