Pilates CEC Pilates Mat Pilates Certification Programs



What is Continuing Education?
Students who received a Pilates basic or advanced mat certifications need to complete 8 hours of continuing education classes every two years in order to maintain it. Courses acceptable are those accredited by the Pilates Method Alliance. Please see the PMA website for a list of continuing education courses and providers.

DNA also offers PMA accredited CEC courses. These courses are designed for currently certified Pilates instructors, but Pilates enthusiasts are also welcome.

Please remember that you must complete 8 Continuing Education Credits every 2 years to maintain current certification.
You may obtain DNA CEC's by attending Teri Steele's classes at DNA. You will receive 1 DNA CEC towards recertification for every 5 classes taken with Teri Steele.

Pilates with Foam Roller Continuing Education Course

5 CEC hours towards DNA Basic Mat re-Certification. 5 PMA CEC.
Proof of current certification required.

The course will begin with a review of the movement and core principles involved in the Pilates Mat exercises. We will then go through the basic mat series and discuss ways to incorporate the foam roller into each exercise. Participants will learn to perform as well as to teach and cue these exercises as well as others derived from Reformer/Cadillac exercises and how they can be performed with foam rollers. Balance exercises will also be taught as well as self-massage/stretching techniques as well. The course will take 5 hours and participants will receive 5 PMA CEC's.

Advanced Pilates Mat Exercises Continuing Education Course

PMA CEC: 5 CEC hours towards DNA Basic Mat re-Certification. 5 PMA CEC.
Proof of current certification required.

This course will start with a review of the basic Pilates Movement and Core Principles. With those in mind, we will discuss common ways of altering the Mat exercises (using tempo, lever length, body weight and gravity) to increase their level of difficulty. Use of smaller props such as small balls ( with and without weight), dynabands and unstable surfaces will also be included. The class will also incorporate mat exercises derived from reformer/cadillac exercises. Finally, we will look at ways to layer and combine exercises into choreographed sequences to challenge muscular endurance and strength for advanced clientele.

Basic/Intermediate Stability Ball Continuing Education Course

We will then discuss some other exercises derived from Reformer and Cadillac exercises and how they can be performed on the stability ball.

Advanced Stability Ball Education Course Created and Presented by Teri Lee Steele

PMA CEC:5 CEC hours towards DNA Basic Mat re-Certification. 5 PMA CEC.
Proof of current certification required.

This course will begin with a review of the concepts discussed in the basic/int stability ball CEC course. We will then progress onto more challenging exercises - using the ball to increase the range of motion of the exercises, to decrease stability and increase neuromuscular recruitment.
